Q: Why should I pick the Golden Scroll Soloists over other musicians in my area?

A: The last thing you want to worry about on your wedding day is if your musicians are going to sound good, if they are going to show up on time, and if they are going to look and act professionally. It is a difficult job to play just the right amount of music at just the right moment, and no two weddings are the same.

The musicians of the Golden Scroll Soloists are professionally trained musicians with degrees on their instrument, and, most importantly, know how to handle weddings.

Kevin and his colleagues started the group in 2005, after having experienced many catastrophes performing with other wedding ensembles. Learning from the mistakes of others, and from many years of our own experience, we have figured out exactly how to incorporate music fluidly into any ceremony. 

Furthermore, our song list is extensive, varied, and unique to our group. This only comes from over a decade of writing our own arrangements to fit the unique needs of weddings.

Q: What area do you service?

A: We perform primarily in Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts, though we tend to do several weddings a year in Upstate New York, Maine, Vermont, and New Hampshire, or New Jersey. We also do destination weddings.

Q: How far in advance should I book?

A: We have no restrictions regarding how far in advance you book. On weekends, especially in summer, we often have weddings booked over a year in advance. We suggest contacting us as early as possible. However, we have even stepped in to help a couple with an emergency and played their wedding the very next day!

Q: Can you guys play outdoors?

A: Yes! About half of the weddings we play are outdoors. String instruments carry well, so there is usually no need for amplification. We cannot play in the rain or extreme cold without ample protection for our fragile instruments.

Q: I don't know if I want a string quartet, trio, or duo. Suggestions?

A:  We answer those questions right here! Also feel free to ask us for our opinions based on your plans.

Q: What will you wear to our wedding?

A: We make sure that our appearance is as good as our sound. To ensure that we do not clash with your wedding colors, or distract from the wedding party, we wear formal, black attire to all events.

Q: I am interested in booking- what do I do next?

A: You will be working with either Marianne or Kevin. Once you have received a quote and indicated that you are interested in working with us, we will send a contract for you to review. We now do all contracts and signatures online, making it a breeze! 

Q: Can we meet in person before our wedding?

A: Yes, if requested, your music coordinator will meet you for a free consultation before your wedding. A live consultation is not required, so if you live a great distance from us, don't sweat it! Since we service a large geographic area, about 90% of our clients are satisfied with phone and e-mail consultations.

Q: What is your payment policy?

A: We ask that the deposit be returned with the contract to reserve the date. The balance is due three weeks before the wedding date.

Q: How music is your deposit?

A: The deposit for the majority of events is $175. The only time it will be higher is for destination events where we must book hotel,  airfare, or other travel. 

Q: I don't know a lot about wedding music- will you help me?

A: Of course! Once you book, we will send you our Client Login, which contains a complete song list and all the next steps. You can also listen to GSS Radio to get a feel for various songs. We are available by phone or email at any time to help you. If you just don't know what you want, Marianne or Kevin can give you suggestions based on our experiences with various songs.
